A Peni Tuberi field goal in the final minutes of the match has proved the difference for the Fiji Army as they defeated the Police Forces 15 – 14 in the annual Ratu Sukuna Bowl clash at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Friday.
With both sides locked at 14-all in the 75th minute, Tuberi stepped up for the Army Bears, slotting the field goal from 20 meters out.
Leading up to the decisive play, the Police Sharks scored two tries, one each on either side of the half, to Api Lutumailagi and Filimoni Yawayawa, whilst the Bear’s only try came via veteran and former Fiji Bati international, Ilisavani Jegesa.
Niumataiwalu converted four penalties for Army while Sevanaia Galala slotted two for Police.
