Glenora Bears continue their rise in Fox Memorial Premiership

The Glenora Bears have put on a dominant performance against the Richmond Rovers to keep in the hunt of the competition leaders.

Glenora 36 – 4 Richmond
A massive performance by Glenora has helped keep them towards the top of the competition with a win over Richmond. The Bulldogs were the first to score through Jeremiah Poutu in a tight start to the contest. It wasn’t until it was not far from the break when fullback Wyatt Rangi scored for the Bears, and it continued on from there. Chase Bernard and Mose Esera got doubles as the home team ran away with it in the second forty.

Otahuhu 36 – 22 Pakuranga
Otahuhu have keep themselves in equal first position after taking the two points against Pakuranga. Molisoni Faiva secured a hat-trick late in the contest for the Jaguars, but the Leopards had built themselves a comfortable cushion on the scoreboard to keep it out of reach.

Marist 36 – 28 Te Atatu
After going undefeated through the first six rounds, the Roosters have dropped two straight, going down to Marist. A tight contest throughout with Te Atatu holding a four point lead at the break, a strong second half saw the Saints score the final three tries to secure themselves an impressive victory.

Ponsonby 52 – 8 Papakura
The two teams clashed on Friday, observed as a public holiday for Matariki, travelling over to the North Shore to battle at Sunnynook Park. Ponsonby played with solid structure through Liam Briggs, showing patience to recover from an early try to take the lead. Michael Eliuna pulled off a smooth move to score on the left edge and Ponsonby pulled away in the second forty to run away over a tiring Papakura side.

Mangere East 66 – 16 Papatoetoe
Mangere East continue a recent push towards the top half of the ladder, jumping into the top six with this win. Papatoetoe will look to learn from this match up and build towards their clash against the Ponies next week. The Hawks face a big test against the Bears next week to see where they sit at this stage of the season.

Manukau 50 – 6 Hibiscus Coast
The Magpies have put together a compete performance and a convincing win over the Raiders. Hibiscus Coast travelled down to Moyle Park looking to get their season back on track but Manukau had some other ideas running out to a 26-0 lead in the first half. Coming out of a break Paea Folau dotted over for three straight tries to keep the pressure on as they continued to test the Hibiscus Coast defence until the final whistle.

Pt Chevalier 58 – 10 Manurewa
The undefeated Pirates are still yet to be stopped as they run up the score against the Marlins. Matthew Whyte got a whopping four tries in the 11 try performance for Pt Chevalier. Manurewa will face another strong team in the Bay Roskill Vikings next weekend.

Mt Albert 56 – 14 Otara
The Lions got going early scoring in the first five minutes and set the tone for the match. The Scorpions met the tone scoring two tries of themselves before Mt Albert ran in a handful of tries in succession to get the lead back. Usual standout, Eiden Ackland got himself a hat-trick and helped his side continue to solidify their position in the top four.

Bay Roskill 26 – 22 Northcote
Following last week’s narrow loss to Mt Albert, the Vikings have bounced back with a win over the Northcote Tigers. Down by six at the half, Bay Roskill scored first in the second period to level the scores. Unable to be separated, it was eventual penalty goals that were able to get the job done.
