The Pt Chevalier Pirates have continued their undefeated start to the 2022 Auckland Fox Memorial Premiership with another convincing win.

Pt Chevalier 42 – 16 Mt Albert
Pt Chevalier have removed any doubt that they belong in first position on their side of the competition. Travelling to Fowlds Park for the livestream game in the top of the table clash, the game starting off well for both sides with both sides scoring early. The Pirates continued to keep the scoreboard ticking along as the Lions made their own errors on crucial plays that saw the game slowly slip away. Doubles from Lewis Soosemea and Saula Solomona helped the away team get the job done. The Pt Chevalier Pirates donned a pink strip for the occasion paying homage to women in league.

Pakuranga 28 – 22 Ponsonby
Pakuranga got the job done at home against visitors Ponsonby in an exciting match up. A close game throughout the contest, it was two tries in the final fifteen minutes from Boss Rolleston that saw the Jaguars get up and get the win. Manu Tukia also reaped the rewards in the win, getting himself a hat-trick, while Ponsonby’s Timor Reese Williams got himself a hat-trick in the contest.

Glenora 22 – 12 Marist
A tight clash between the second and third placed teams for Section 2 was always going to be close. Glenora got themselves off to a good start before the Saints got going towards the back end of the half. A try to Maclean Uhamaka in the second half saw Marist get themselves to within two points, before the Bears scored two late tries through Chaz Brown and Israel Levi to push the game out of reach.

Otahuhu 38 – 16 Mangere East
Mangere East came to play against a strong Otahuhu side. The home side scored first and put out a good performance in the first half, seeing the teams go into the break level at 10-a piece. In the second half, the Leopards who are looking to claw their way towards the top of the ladder, came out of the break and get their offense going, scoring consistently throughout the second half to get the victory.

Te Atatu 94 – 1 Papatoetoe
As Pt Chevalier are doing in Section 1, Te Atatu are doing in Section 2, establishing themselves as the team to beat with another strong performance. The visitors ran up the score against a valiant Papatoetoe side, including a Hikoirangi Paki hat-trick. The Panthers snuck a field goal in with the boot of Jordyn Makiha.

Richmond 56 – 0 Papakura
Richmond secured a dominant win showing both offensive and defensive discipline to keep the rebuilding Papakura side scoreless. An eleven try performance for the home side saw them get a much needed two points in a tight ladder race in Section 2. Papakura will look ahead to next week when they face the Mangere East Hawks at home.

Howick 38 – 18 Manurewa
The Manurewa Marlins continue to show strong signs in the SAS Fox Memorial Premiership competition, but the strong Howick Hornets side got away with the two points with their second half performance. The first half was a tight contest with both sides playing well, heading into the break with a 16-14 score to Howick. In the second half, the Hornets got rolling scoring three tries back-to-back which saw the momentum of the game completely shift into the home sides favour. Howick’s strength came up front with top performers Tahi Baggaley and Tayhler Paora keeping the team on the front foot. Fullback Alan Niulevu scored a double to help his team get going in the second forty.

Manukau 24 – 22 Otara
The Manukau Magpies continue to impress in their strong 2022 campaign. Led once again with a strong performance from Samuel Nati, the side were victorious in their battle against local rivals, Otara.

Bay Roskill 38 – 14 Hibiscus Coast
Bay Roskill got back to winning ways at home, getting the job done against the Raiders. The Raiders got off to a good start scoring the first points of the contest and keeping the scores close throughout the first half. In the second half, Bay ran away with it out of the break to get away with a convincing win. Winger Jerome Vogel scored a hat-trick to help guide his team to victory.
