The Paiya Roosters have claimed the inaugural Sugu Valley Peace Cup after the team defeated the Pii Storm in Saturday’s Grand Final.
Taking place in Kagua in the Kagua-Erave District of Papua New Guinea’s Southern Highlands, the Roosters edged the Storm by four points in muddy conditions in front of a large crowd.
The new competition comes off the back of the successful Aiya Rugby League, which was launched in 2020, and is focused on providing opportunities for youth in the region.
