The Apia Barracudas have defeated the Marist Saints in a thriller to close out Round Four of the 2021 Rugby League Samoa Men’s National Club Championship on Wednesday.
In the penultimate round of the Men’s Championship regular season, a triple header was held at St Joseph’s College in Alafua, as the competition was taken on the road to the Faleata District.
Kicking off the day, the AOG Stormers were too strong for the Taufusi Eels before the Letava Bulldogs defeated Lepea Village in the Pool Two matches.
In the single Pool One match, two of Rugby League Samoa’s powerhouse clubs went head to head in another thriller, with only a single point separating the two sides at full time. In the match, the Marist Saints lead 6 – 4 at halftime before kicking a field goal late in the second half to give themselves a 7 – 4 lead before defending premiers, Apia, scored just before fulltime to secure the 8 – 7 win.
Round Five of the competition will take place this weekend, before the Semi Finals take place the following week.
