The Central Queensland Capras and PNG Hunters have both ended their losing streaks in big round of the Queensland Intrust Super Cup held over the weekend.
The Capras, who’s only Premiership points had come from two draws, defeated the Brisbane Tigers 30 – 22 at Gladstone’s Marley Brown Oval, ending the club’s 861 days without a win.
Meanwhile in Atherton, the Solo Wane collected a double, as the PNG Hunters recorded their first win since Round Four of the Intrust Super Cup, with a 34 – 22 win over the Northern Pride.
In the other matches played, the Norths Devils pushed two wins clear at the top of the Intrust Super Cup table after surging home for a 40-16 victory over Mackay Cutters in Dysart, whilst right centre, Treymain Spry, scored three tries in his most dominant performance of the season for the Tweed Seagulls in their 40 – 18 victory over Sunshine Coast Falcons in Murgon.
At Charlie Wehlow Oval in Richmond, the Townsville Blackhawks posted their fifth straight win after coming out on top with a gruelling 28-18 victory over a physical Souths Logan Magpies, whilst at Bulldog Park in Chinchilla, the Burleigh Bears handed the Wynnum Manly Seagulls only their third loss of the year, running out 26 – 20 victors.
Out at John Waugh Park in Quilpie, the Redcliffe Dolphins also battled it out in a tight one, defeating the Redcliffe Dolphins 26 – 22.
In Round 15 of the Intrust Super Cup, the Hunters and Capras have the opportunity for one of them to make it two wins in-a-row when they go head to head in Rockhampton, whilst at the top of the table, the Wynnum Manly Seagulls and Norths Devils will go head to head.
