The results from the opening weekend of the Port Moresby Rugby Football League (POMRFL) Pre-Season Nines are in, with the Dobo Warriors (1), Kone Tigers (1) and Royals (1) all in prime position to qualify for the tournament Finals.
The 2021 POMRFL Pre-Season Nines features 32 Men’s teams and 8 Women’s teams, with teams broken into pools of four.
Each Pool has so far hosted three matches, with a further three matches still to be played in each of the respective group stages. So far the Dobo Warriors (1), Kone Tigers (1) and Royals (1) are the only teams to have won two matches in the Men’s.
Each of the fourteen POMRFL affiliated clubs have entered two teams each into the Men’s competition, with the remaining four spots taken up by invitational teams, the Saroa Raiders, SSG Roosters, Funeral Home Laumas and Walia.
The Royals and Sisters are so far the top two teams in the Women’s competition.
The POMRFL Nines will resume next weekend, with the Finals scheduled to start on Saturday afternoon.
