Defending Champions, the Randwick Kingfishers, will kick off their 2021 Wellington Premier One season away this weekend when they take on the Porirua Vikings at Ascot Park.

After ending Whiti te Rā winning streak of four consecutive titles late last year, Wellington’s second oldest club, the Kingfishers, will be looking to kick start their own period of dominance when the competition kicks off this Saturday.

In other matches set to take place in the opening round, Grand Finalists, Whiti Te Ra, will face the Wainuiomata Lions at Otaki Domain, whilst competition Minor Premiers, the St George Dragons, will host Toa at Cannons Creek Park.

Randwick won the Appleton Shield after defeating Whiti te Rā 44 – 24 in last year’s Grand Final. 2021 will be the 109th season of the Wellington Rugby League Premier competition.
