The best talent from the newly formed Olsen Filipaina Cup U20s will come together at the end of the year to form an Auckland representative side which will take on the South Island in Christchurch.
The match will offer up further representative opportunities for players at the conclusion of the Olsen Filipaina Cup, which will kick off on May 9 and see players represent the Auckland district while remaining registered to their club of choice.
ARL education and development manager Viggo Rasmussen said confirmation of the South Island trip is an exciting addition to the U20 calendar.
“This is a great chance for local Auckland players to be part of a meaningful representative match and to show what they have got against the best of their peers from the South Island,” Rasmussen said.
“To be eligible for Auckland U20 selection players must have taken part in the Olsen Filipaina Cup, so I’d encourage all boys aged 17-20 to register for the second and final trial on April 11 to ensure they don’t miss out.”
