The Toa Samoa Residents National Team have proved to be too strong for the Mate Ma Tonga Residents, winning the 5th annual Ohana Cup 20 – 4 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In front of a predominately pro-Samoa crowd, very little separated the two teams in the first 40 minutes of the game, with only a try to Samoa’s Willie Peace proving the difference before the sides headed into the sheds at half time.

Despite only the small lead coming into the second half, the Samoa team came out full of confidence and converted their pressure into two quick tries through Ajay Tuimavave and a second to Willie Peace to setup an 18 – 0 lead.

Tonga hit back with a try to keep themselves in the hunt, but it proved to be too little too late, as Samoa added a penalty conversion to seal their 20 – 4 win.
